Materials

Pick by where the part lives.

Tell us where the part goes — bench, truck bed, engine bay, outdoors in January — and we will recommend a material. In stock: PLA, PLA Tough+, PETG, PETG+, TPU and carbon-fiber nylon (PA-CF). Ordered per job (adds 2–4 business days): ASA and PETG-CF. All print in a heated chamber, which is what makes the carbon-fiber nylon possible.

Heat figures are manufacturer data-sheet values for continuous use, not a rating for safety-critical parts; we have not tested them ourselves. Printed parts are weaker across layers than along them, and we orient every part with that in mind.

PETG

PETG and PETG+ — the default for shop parts

Tough, a little flexible, chemically resistant and cheap. Ideal for fixtures that live on a bench, enclosures, trays, organizers and clips; PETG+ is the slightly tougher grade we reach for first. Will slowly deform if left on a dashboard in July, so it stays indoors.

ASA

ASA — for anything outside (ordered per job)

The outdoor material. UV-stable where ABS yellows and chalks, takes paint and sanding well. Truck bed storage, trailer accessories, signage brackets — the parts we have run through North Dakota winters on our own equipment are ASA.

PETG-CF

PETG-CF — stiff and dimensionally honest (ordered per job)

Short carbon fiber in a PETG base. Noticeably stiffer, matte black, and holds its dimensions better than plain PETG, which makes it the first choice for fit-check prototypes and jigs that have to stay square. Less impact-tough than plain PETG.

PA-CF

PA-CF — the closest thing to a machined plastic part

Carbon-fiber nylon. Very stiff, tough, low friction, and handles heat that would fold anything else here. Gears, under-hood brackets, tool holders, anything that replaces a machined Delrin or nylon part. Dried and printed in a heated chamber.

TPU

TPU — flexible

Rubber-like at Shore 95A. Gaskets, bumpers, protective caps, grips, vibration-isolating feet, cable strain reliefs, phone and tablet bumpers for the truck. Softer durometers on request.

PLA

PLA and PLA Tough+ — models, mock-ups and indoor parts

Sharpest detail and lowest cost. Standard PLA is right for architectural and presentation models and visual mock-ups; PLA Tough+ is less brittle and fine for indoor holders, organizers and prototypes that get handled. Neither belongs anywhere warm or under load. We will say so if you ask for PLA on a working part.

Finishing & hardware

Beyond the raw print.

Threaded inserts

Heat-set brass inserts in M2.5–M8 and #4–¼-20. Stronger than printed threads and reusable.

Magnets, pins & bearings

Captured during the print or pressed afterward. Pockets sized to the actual magnet you send us.

Multi-material & color

Dual-nozzle machine: embedded text and logos, two colors, soluble supports for internal channels, TPU over a rigid core.

Surface

Standard 0.2 mm layers; 0.12 mm for visible surfaces. Sanding, priming and painting on request for ASA.

Tolerances

±0.2 mm typical on features under 100 mm, ±0.3 mm above, checked on a tolerance coupon per material. Press fits and sliding fits are tuned on a test print first when it matters.

Size

Single pieces up to roughly 300 × 300 × 300 mm. Larger parts are split with dovetails or bolted joints.
