Northern Works Request a quote

Terms of service

Plain terms.

These terms apply to every quote, order and product from Northern Works 3D Printing & Prototyping, a trade name of Northern Drone LLC ("we", "us"). Ordering, paying a deposit or accepting a quote means you agree to them. Last updated 2026-11-03.

1. Quotes

Quotes are itemized (design, print time, material, hardware, shipping) and valid for 30 days. Design time is quoted in hours as a not-to-exceed figure and includes one revision; further revisions are quoted before work continues. A quote is based on the files and information you provide; changes to either may change the price and lead time.

2. Payment and deposits

New customers pay in full before printing. Orders over $250, or any order that includes design work, require a 50% deposit before work starts, with the balance due before shipping or pickup. Net-30 terms are available to business customers after two paid orders. We accept card and ACH through the invoice link. Minimum order $45. North Dakota sales tax applies to taxable sales, including fabrication labor, unless you provide a valid exemption or resale certificate; Minnesota customers are invoiced according to Minnesota rules.

3. Approval before printing

For any order over $100, or any order with design work, we send a screenshot of the model (or a test print, if quoted) for your written approval before printing. Your approval confirms the geometry, dimensions, material and quantity. We are not responsible for errors in an approved model that originate in your files, drawings, photos or measurements.

4. Lead times

Most parts are completed in 3–7 business days after approval and payment. Lead times in quotes are estimates; printing is a process with failures, and we will tell you promptly if a job slips. A rush fee of 50% on print time and material buys a promised under-72-hour turnaround only when confirmed in writing in the quote.

5. Materials, tolerances and fitness for use

Parts are made by fused-filament 3D printing and are anisotropic: weaker across layers than along them. Material properties quoted on our website are manufacturer data-sheet values unless stated as tested by us. Typical tolerance is ±0.2 mm on features under 100 mm. Unless a part is specifically tested and documented in writing by us or a licensed engineer, no part is rated for structural, safety, towing, pressure, food-contact, medical or aircraft use, and every functional part ships labelled to that effect. Our Scope & Safety policy lists what we decline. You are responsible for determining that a part is suitable for your application.

6. Your designs and ours

Designs we create for you are yours once the invoice is paid; we keep a copy only to make reorders cheap, and delete it on request. We do not share, resell or publish customer parts or files without written permission. Catalog designs and products remain ours; buying a printed part does not transfer design rights. When you supply a design or ask us to reproduce a part, you confirm that you have the right to have it made and that doing so does not infringe a patent, trademark, copyright or licence; you agree to cover us for claims that it does.

7. Reprints, returns and refunds

If a part printed from your file at the quoted tolerance does not fit, we reprint once at print and material cost. If we designed the part and it does not match the approved model, the reprint is free. Printed-to-order parts cannot otherwise be returned. Catalog products may be returned unused within 14 days for a refund less shipping. Cosmetic layer lines, small support marks and colour variation between spools are normal and are not defects.

8. Limitation of liability

Our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including downtime, lost profit or damage to equipment a part is installed in, to the fullest extent North Dakota law allows. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Shipping and pickup

Shipping is charged at cost (USPS Ground Advantage unless you ask for something else) and risk of loss passes to the carrier at hand-off; we will help with a carrier claim. Pickup in West Fargo is by appointment. Orders not picked up or paid for within 60 days of completion may be disposed of.

10. Cancellation

You may cancel before approval for a full refund less any design time already spent. After printing starts, you owe the print time and material used.
